THE Retroactive Emergency Aid This is a supplement to the benefit payments made in 2021. Find out who is eligible and how to withdraw the funds!

What is Retroactive Emergency Aid?

Before understanding what retroactive emergency aid is, it's important to understand the concept of emergency aid itself. This public benefit was created in 2020 as a solution to the economic crisis resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The payment was intended for informal workers and individual micro-entrepreneurs (MEI) who did not have an employment contract or receive INSS benefits.

In addition, beneficiaries needed to have a per capita family income of up to R$ 522.50 or a total family income of up to R$ 3,135.

An interesting rule of the benefit was that single mothers, solely responsible for their children, received double the assistance.

In 2020, the benefit consisted of 5 installments of R$ 600, which meant that single mothers were entitled to 5 installments of R$ 1,200.

However, this rule was revised in 2021 to also include single parents, extending the double benefit to them. To compensate for the double payment that single parents should have received in 2020, the Retroactive Emergency Aid was created.

Retroactive payments began earlier this year, so it's possible some people have already received them without knowing it.

Who is entitled to retroactive emergency aid?

The retroactive emergency aid is intended only for single fathers who received the aid in 2020, but not in double. This means that this compensation is exclusively for men who have custody of their children and are solely responsible for raising them.

It is important to emphasize that simply meeting the "single father" requirement is not enough. Another rule for receiving retroactive payments is having received at least one installment of the Emergency Aid in 2020.

Therefore, the payment now refers to the difference between the amount received and the amount that should have been received by the beneficiaries.

What is the amount of the retroactive Emergency Aid payment?

The amount of retroactive emergency aid depends on the number of installments the beneficiary received in 2020. Here's how it works:

The amount received by the beneficiary depends on the number of installments received in 2020, since double payments were only made to single parents in 2021.

The Retroactive Emergency Aid aims to compensate for the amounts that single parents would have been entitled to at the time, but did not receive correctly.
