If you are a Person with a Disability (PWD) and fall into the low-income category, understand here how to apply for your card. Free Pass for People with Disabilities<\/strong> which guarantees free transportation. See below how to proceed to obtain it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does PCD mean?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

PCD is a contemporary acronym for Person with Disability, referring to any individual who lives with some permanent limitation, whether physical, visual, auditory, or intellectual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the PCD Free Pass?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to decree no. 3298\/1999, the PCD Free Pass allows free travel on railways, highways, and vessels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Therefore, those who receive this benefit are entitled to free travel using any of these modes of transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program is managed by the Ministry of Infrastructure (MI), and to guarantee this benefit, the person needs to present:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • A medical report attesting to your status as a person with a disability;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Proof of low income (per capita family income of up to one minimum wage, currently R$1.212).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    It is important to highlight that the condition of being a person with a disability (PCD) can be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Physical;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Auditory;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Mental;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Visual;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Multiple.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Typically, a doctor from the public healthcare system or affiliated with the SUS (Brazilian Unified Health System) is responsible for issuing the disability certificate for people with disabilities. Every individual with a disability has the right to this document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      How to apply for the Free Pass<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Applicants for this benefit must contact the Ministry of Infrastructure, and a response may be received within 30 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      There are different ways to apply for the Free Pass, including in person, by mail, or online, free of charge. See below how to apply using the three methods mentioned:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      In person<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      You need to visit the service point located in Store 2 of the Bras\u00edlia Bus Station, in the basement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The applicant must have certain documents on hand:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      • Beneficiary Application Form;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Declaration of Family Composition and Income;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Standard Medical Certificate or Report for the Free Pass issued within the last year (maximum);<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Application form for a companion for those who need one (including CPF [Brazilian tax identification number], identification documents, income, and relationship of this person to the applicant);<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Guardianship, Custody or Curatorship Agreement for a minor or incapacitated beneficiary whose father or mother are not their legal guardians;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • 3x4 color photo with a white background;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Identification Document.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Easy, right? Prepare all the documents, as you will need to present both the originals and copies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        By Mail<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        If you do not reside in Bras\u00edlia, or by personal choice, you can apply through the Post Office, with the same documentation mentioned previously. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The documents must be sent in an envelope addressed as follows: PASSE LIVRE, P.O. Box No. 9.600, Postal Code 70.040-976, SAN Quadra 3 Bloco N\/O t\u00e9rreo \u2013 Bras\u00edlia(DF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Note: the cost of sending the documentation is the responsibility of the applicant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Via the Internet<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        Another option is to apply online by accessing the Ministry of Infrastructure's website, in the Free Pass section. Once there, you should follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          \n
        • Fill in the beneficiary's details, family members and companion (if necessary);<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Scan and attach the requested documents:<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Standard Medical Certificate\/Report for the FREE PASS issued no more than one year ago;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • 3x4 color photo with a white background;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Copy of Identification Document;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • And, if necessary, a Guardianship Order, Custody Order, or Curatorship Order for minors or incapacitated individuals whose parents are not their legal guardians;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Click the \u201cSubmit for Review\u201d button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
